Dartmoor Zoological Park: Experience Information, Rules and Regulations.

During your day you will be working with different keepers. Whichever keeper you are placed with you must stay close beside them at all times unless instructed otherwise, listen carefully and follow any instructions given. If you are unsure about anything you are asked to do, ask the keeper to explain it again.

If you have long hair please tie it back. Make sure you wash your hands using soap and hot running water after any contact with the animals and before eating or drinking. Hand washing facilities are available in the keeper’s yard and restaurant toilets.

Please let your keeper know if you have any allergies such as asthma, latex gloves or bee/wasp stings etc.

Do not proceed through any stand off barrier without instruction from your keeper. Do not enter any animal enclosure or building without your keeper present. Do not approach or try to touch any animal unless permitted by your keeper. Keep hands away from chain link fences.

If an object is too heavy do not attempt to lift or carry it, tell a keeper.

Our maintenance team use large vehicles throughout the day, be aware of this potential hazard.

If there is an emergency follow your keeper at all times.

Smoking is only allowed at lunch time, behind the main office in the designated area (you will be shown this)

If you injure yourself or feel unwell tell your keeper who will contact the First Aider.
- Dartmoor Zoological Park will not be held responsible for any loss, theft or damage to any personal property.

Spectators may not accompany the participant. Only one person may purchase half price entrance to the zoo.

The experiencee may be required to listen to a short health and safety briefing at the start of the day.

A meal is included in the price of Big Cat Keeper for a Day, Keeper For A Day, Meet The Tigers, Meet The Coati, Tickle A Tapir and the All-Day Mini Zoo Keeper experiences only.

Practical old clothes, waterproofs and wellington boots or other suitable footwear are required (no open toed shoes).
Accommodation: If you are travelling a substantial distance we can recommend the following accommodation options.
Arrival: Please park in the main visitor car park at the bottom of the drive. Inform the person at the kiosk that you are here for an animal experience and proceed to the restaurant where you will be met by one of the keeping staff.
