Wheelchair Users
We are dedicated to improving the park’s accessibility so that everyone can enjoy a great day out. Barriers around our enclosures are low so that viewing our spectacular animals is easy and enjoyable. As we are lucky enough to be in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside there are some steep paths on site, some of which have a loose gravel covering, but don’t let that deter you! We have a wheelchair friendly route around the park and off-road motability scooters available to hire throughout the summer season. Most importantly, we also have a great team of staff ready and waiting to discover how they can best help you.
If you would like to hire a scooter out of season, you can do so from Scoot-A-Long for only £5 per day (to cover their costs), plus a £20 deposit by calling 01579 350 689 or 07969790659.
Please note: At least 24 hours notice is required for hire.
Guide Dogs
Unfortunately, for reasons concerning animal welfare we are unable to allow guide dogs at the zoo. The layout of our enclosures differs in some significant ways to those of other zoos, meaning the animals are often in very close proximity to visitor areas. As a consequence, guide dogs, even though very well behaved, can cause considerable stress to our animals. This decision has not been taken lightly, but it is something that we are duty bound to follow. Your understanding is very much appreciated.
